Thanks to budget airlines travelling abroad is now easier and cheaper than ever. There are a number of budget airlines that operate flights going to destinations all over Europe and further afield that are based at major UK airports. It is possible to book flights for an incredibly low price, particularly if you do so in advance.
However, some budget airlines have received a great deal of bad press in past for charging customers with hidden costs and fees that are made obvious in their advertising. However, even with these extra charges and optional extras the flights are still a great deal cheaper than those available from major airlines.
Many people question how these airlines manage to keep their fares so low, particularly as filling fuel tanks at the moment cannot be cheap thanks to the rising cost of fuel. However, despite aviation fuel being incredibly expensive these companies still manage to offer their customers low fares whilst keeping their fuel tanks topped up. This is achieved by cutting costs in other areas. Many budget airlines do not operate check in desk and instead require their passengers to check in online. Also, food and refreshments are not included in the price of a ticket.
Some people argue that budget airlines are too uncomfortable to travel with and cut too many corners. However, with the price of the some of the tickets it's hard to justify these quibbles as they offer such excellent value!
