When going on your summer holiday, it is important for many reasons to take at least one pair of sunglasses with you. Just in case you loose one, you will have a back up pair and you won't have to worry about purchasing another pair while you are away. Sunglasses are mostly known as a fashion accessory. Popular styles today are the aviator and the wraparound. But the most important reason for sunglasses is to protect your eyes against the harmful UV (ultraviolet) radiation that the sun produces. Severe eye damage can occur if the right precautions are not taken, like wearing sunglasses when you are outside to protect your eyes from these harmful rays. Sunglasses also provide comfort and visual clarity when you are outside with a bright sun.
Sunglasses are especially important when you're skiing, as the sunlight can be extremely strong on the piste. You'll also need to protect your eyes whilst you're skiing too, so skiing goggles with UV protection are a must. You'll find that if the sunlight is strong then you'll struggle to see where you're going whilst you ski as the sunlight reflected off the white snow can be blinding! Also, don't forget to bring some sun screen when you're skiing! Although it might be cold, the sun can still damage your skin, particularly when it is as strong as it is on many popular ski resorts.
